Digital & Print Design in college classes
Ranging from 2017-2020, I have created various designs including branding projects, websites, posters, email ads, magazines & more at James Madison University. Below are a few of my favorite projects.
Senior Interactive Design Capstone
January-March, 2020
Project Overview:
Elk Trucking, Inc. was established in 1995, and presently offers a fleet of dry van 53’ trailers. Their mission was to provide asset-based transportation services to meet the highest level of customer satisfaction.
For our interactive design senior capstone project, my partner and I worked closely with 4 Computer Information Science (CIS) students to create the back end coding for the website, while we handle the UX Design/Front-End code. Elk Trucking wanted an interface their drivers could utilize when they were making their stops to leave reviews and learn about the stops before they arrived.
The Problem & Solution
How can we create value by improving a truck driver’s experience with shippers and receivers through a rating system based on their personal experiences?
Truck drivers are not aware of the wait times and amenities available before they reach a stop, and that leads to more time taken out of their total time on the road. They need a way to organize their assigned stops and gather information about the stop before they arrive.
Solution: An interface that manages and shares the truckers feedback on amenities, time spent, frustrations & end goals at each truck stop and therefore bettering their overall drop off/pick up experience to save time and money.
What’s Inside the Usability Report:
User Research, User Personas, Design Inspiration, Brand Elements, Use-Case Diagram, Sitemap, Wireframes, & Hi-Fidelity Prototypes
Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the beginning of 2020, our capstone project could only complete Sprint 1 out of 3 in front of the client. The remaining 2 were supposed to take place in the succeeding months. Sprint 1 consisted solely of UX Design and Brand Elements. The next sprints consisted of the implementation of a working interface using Front-End Web Development and then completed with Back-End Web Development from the CIS students for a fully functioning system.
Our group’s client presentation scored us 2nd place overall out of 12 groups.
